Using the Restoring Selected Objects option can produce different results, depending on whether the restore job is at table level or database level.
Restore Job Level Results
Table-level restore job The dictionary and data are deleted. The dictionary is restored first, then the data.
If the table was renamed or re-created, the restore job will fail.
Database-level restore job with no tables that have been created since the backup image The objects are deleted, then restored from the backup image.
Database-level restore job with new tables that have been created since the backup image The new tables are removed and lost. All tables that existed in the database at the time of the backup image creation are restored in the same manner as a table-level restore.
New tables are not removed if you inserted an EXCLUDE command in the ARC syntax for those tables.
