Teradata Aster Analytics on Azure offers the same features that come with an on-premises Teradata Aster system with a couple of exceptions. See Limitations for a list of the exceptions.
In addition, there are some features that are enabled by default. See Enabled Features.
Aster Analytics on Azure supports these features:
Database Feature | Description |
---|---|
Massively Parallel Data Storage | Aster Database is a Massively Parallel Processing (MPP), shared-nothing database designed for general-purpose and analytic data warehousing. |
Distributed Architecture | Its architecture is comprised of multiple worker servers or nodes which are managed and coordinated by a queen server. Users only interact with the queen node which handles distribution of data and tasks for optimal performance. |
Data Distribution | The data and the workload are distributed among workers to optimize query performance and function execution. This allows each worker node to run in parallel and also allows linear scaling by adding additional worker nodes. |
Embedded Analytic Processing | Integrated analytic engine with SQL, Teradata Aster SQL-MapReduce® framework and Teradata Aster SQL-GR® enables analysis of both non-relational and relational data with incremental scalability. |
Rapid Analytics Development and Model Deployment | Over 150 pre-built analytic functions as well as Visual IDE enables development of apps in hours while supporting many programming languages, such as Java. |
Refer to the Aster Analytics on Azure documentation set for more information on these features.
