Configuring additional Business Continuity Manager servers or Teradata systems in the Business Continuity Manager environment requires usernames and passwords. Business Continuity Manager uses the bcmPasswd tool to provide these credentials conveniently and securely. Teradata recommends using this tool to collect the usernames and passwords required to install and configure Business Continuity Manager.

  1. On the primary Business Continuity Manager server, use the bcmPasswd tool.
    # /opt/teradata/bcm/bin/bcmPasswd

Welcome to the Teradata bcmpassword tool.

This interactive tool will allow you to set passwords required for maintenance on
your bcm & Teradata environment in a safe an secure way. The password values set
will be stored in an encrypted format in TDWallet on this server.

This tool simply collects passwords. It does not perform any changes on the BCM
servers or Teradata systems. It will validate the passwords you have entered are
correct by attempting to connect to the bcm server or Teradata system.

This tool will NOT affect or change any passwords or value required to run bcm.
These values are only used for maintenance.

At the conclusion of the maintenance, you can remove these passwords using:
        # bcmPasswd --erase
        Removing any current passwords.
