Teradata Database supports several different types of request processors, or partitions. A partition is specified when a session is established by the CLIv2 Run String addressed in the DBCAREA. CLIv2 operates identically for all partitions. Although the structures of requests and responses are the same for all partitions, the contents vary by partition. The following partitions are supported by the Database for general use:
  • DBC/SQL – The partition that processes SQL requests. The remaining section of this document assume the use of this partition.
  • Monitor – The partition that processes performance monitor requests, available only for systems running at least Teradata Database for UNIX, Version 2 Release 2, or Teradata DBS for TOS, Version 1 Release 5. Use of this partition is described in Teradata® Database Application Programming Reference, B035-1090 and Teradata® Manager User Guide (B035-2428).
  • RBM (Resolver Base Module) – The partition that processes Two-phase commit in-doubt resolution requests, available only for systems running Teradata Database for UNIX, Version 2 Release 2, or Teradata DBS for TOS, Version 1 Release 5. See Resolver Base Module.
