Applications have to send specific parcels with TDSP and Parameterized SQL requests, even in parcel mode. DBCAREA extension is used for this purpose. DBCAREA contains an extension header and the set of extension elements defined by CLI. The application chooses the set of extension elements by setting the “eyecatcher” field of the extension header. If set to “DBCX”, elements are defined to work only in 32-bit mode. If set to “IRX8”, elements are defined to work in 32-bit and 64-bit mode.

Existing element structures are inadequate for sending APH parcel flavors or parcel bodies whose size is greater than 65535 bytes. To overcome this limitation for supporting APH parcels, the following changes are implemented in DBCAREA extension:
  • New set of element structures are defined.
  • Use of existing element structures is deprecated.
  • Use of structure elements “D8XILMNT” and “D8XILPTR” defined by 64-bit implementation is deprecated.
