You can achieve high availability of Data Lab across multiple systems by leveraging the high availability capabilities of Teradata Unity. This feature provides uninterrupted access to Data Lab even if one of the Teradata systems serviced by an active-active Unity cluster is unavailable.

Data Lab high availability requires the use of both Unity and Viewpoint. When a user connects to a Unity system from the Data Labs portlet, all the lab groups and labs are created by the Unity cluster and are available on Teradata systems managed by Unity.

For high availability of existing Data Lab labs you must migrate data from the source Teradata system with the labs to all other systems managed by the Unity cluster and deploy a dictionary that includes the migrated Data Lab objects. See the Teradata® Viewpoint Installation, Configuration, and Upgrade Guide for Customers, B035-2207 for information about configuring Data Lab for high availability.
