DSA Logs

Log File Location Description
dsc.log Resides on the DSC server in one of the following locations:
  • $DSA_LOG_DIR
  • /var/opt/teradata/dsa/logs
DSA job metadata processing
Defaults:
  • Log level: Info
  • Log file size: 50 MB
  • Log file count: 10
clienthandler.log Resides on the DSC server or media servers in one of the following locations:
  • $DSA_LOG_DIR
  • /var/opt/teradata/dsa/logs
DSA Network Client (ClientHandler) processing
dscCommandline.log Resides on the DSC server or media servers in one of the following locations:
  • $DSA_LOG_DIR
  • /var/opt/teradata/dsa/logs
Command-line process
dsarest.log Resides on the DSC server in one of the following locations:
  • $DSA_LOG_DIR
  • /var/opt/teradata/dsa/logs
REST server status

Viewpoint Logs

Log File Location Description
Viewpoint logs /var/opt/teradata/viewpoint/portal/logs Viewpoint portal information

Third-Party Backup Application Logs

Log File Location Description
dsa_tdbackex.log /var/opt/teradata/dsa/logs/dsa_tdbackex.log NetBackup job log that contains error messages

Teradata Database Logs

Log File Location Description
BARLog_rsgno_partitionno*.txt In one of the following locations:
  • <PDE-temp-path>
  • /var/opt/teradata/tdtemp/bar
DSMain information, which can be useful in determining why a job failed
When DSMAIN logs are set to the DEBUG logging level, more than one log file is created in /var/opt/Teradata/tdtemp/bar. For troubleshooting purposes, it is best to:
  1. Gather all the log files in the directory.
  2. Zip the directory on all nodes involved in the job.
  3. Send the files through email to DSA Frontline.
Location Description
/var/opt/teradata/tdtemp/post_restore_<version> Logs post_data_restore and post_dbc_restore script information. This information is useful in determining what happened during the post-restore scripts.
