Target Level Emulation is disabled by default and should never be enabled on a production system.

The following is a high-level procedure for enabling Target Level Emulation on a test system.

  1. Run the DIP utility script DIPSYSFE to create the optimizer cost values table SystemFE.Opt_Cost_Table, the dynamic AMP sample statistical values table SystemFE.Opt_RAS_Table, the XML-formatted query plans table SystemFE.Opt_XMLPlan_Tbl, and the DBS Control parameters table SystemFE.Opt_DBSCtl_Table.
  2. Use the DBS Control utility to enable Target Level Emulation on your test system by setting DBS Control general parameter Target Level Emulation to TRUE.
