SCANDISK and CheckTable are both file system utilities designed to check the integrity of the database and report problems.
You must verify the database before the migration because:
- Some problems may cause the migration to fail or cause database failures on the new release.
- Some problems can be easily corrected on the source system but impossible to correct on the destination system.
- If the database already has problems it may cause any new problems introduced by the migration to go undetected or cause effort to be wasted looking for a migration problem that doesn't exist.
If the system has other users logged on, execute these utilities at low priority.
