This book, Utilities, describes the utility programs that support Teradata Database. These utilities are used to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Teradata Database. They display control fields, find and correct problems within the file system, rebuild tables that may have been corrupted, and manage the virtual processors (vprocs). These utilities are also used to abort transactions and processes; monitor system performance, resources, and status, perform internal system checking, and perform system configuration, initialization, recovery, and tuning.

Support Utilities, describes utilities that are used primarily by Teradata Support and field engineers to support Teradata Database. These utilities should be used under the direction of Teradata Support personnel.

Chapter names reflect the utility common name followed by the name of the executable utility program enclosed in parentheses, for example, Control GDO Editor (ctl). Use the executable program name to start the utility from the command line or Database Window.
