TDP issues messages in response to commands and to inform the operator of events of interest. Since there is rarely any reason to do so, TDP provides no mechanism to periodically issue commands, but z/OS and VOS3 Job Entry Subsystem (JES) commands, automated operations software, or programs that simulate consoles can periodically issue TDP commands. The following other aspects of TDP messages are presented:
- Routing and Descriptor Codes
- Message Format
- Messages Requiring Replies
- Messages Having Operational Impact
All TDP messages and a discussion of their meaning are contained in Messages (B035-1096).
