Purpose

Stops TDP operation.

Syntax



Unlike other commands, the SHUTDOWN command has no abbreviation. Because the impact of the command is irreversible, requiring it to be fully specified minimizes accidental use.

where:

CANCEL
Cancels TDP immediately with a memory dump.
QUICK
Logs off all sessions before shutting down TDP.
ORDERLY
Disables logons and waits for sessions to end before shutting down TDP.
This is the default.

Usage Notes

While this kind of shutdown is in progress . . . You can execute SHUTDOWN with this option . . .

To obtain a dump in . . . Use the command . . .
z/OS

VOS3

z/OS DUMP (for an SVC dump), or z/OS CANCEL with the DUMP argument.

Note that an SVC dump is preferable.
