To determine which TARA restore images to regenerate, compare backup datasets between the TARA and TSM repositories.

  1. Display the backup datasets in the TARA repository by doing one of the following:
    1. In the TARA GUI, click Teradata Tiered Archive/Restore Architecture > Task > Restore to display the RESTORE object selection dialog box.
    2. Find information on all job files in the Job Information Repository by typing: tarajobquery -u <user name> - p <password> -s <TARA server name> -L
For example, the last backup of the TARA server has images for three backups:
      • 2 generations of "daily" datasets
      • 1 generation of "weekly" datasets

In the example, the last backup of the following datasets will be recovered:

      • Daily datasets stored in the TSM repository
      • Any new backups performed after the TARA server backup
    3. Use taratddsmc to display the backup datasets in the TSM Repository. The taratddsmc utility lists:
      • Three generations of "daily" datasets
      • One generation of "weekly" datasets
      • A new backup of"quarterly" datasets
Differences between the TARA and TSM Repository require that the following images must be recovered in the TARA repository:
      • Generation 3 of the "daily" dataset
      • "Quarterly" dataset
