Arrow to Global Type Mapping
The initiator connector maps global data types to JDBC and Arrow data types.
| Arrow Data Type | Global Data Type |
|---|---|
| Int, BitWidth 8 – Signed | G_ByteInt |
| Int, BitWidth 16 – Signed | G_SmallInt |
| Int, BitWidth 32 – Signed | G_Integer |
| Int, BitWidth 64 – Signed | G_BigInt |
| Int, BitWidth 8 – Unsigned | G_SmallInt |
| Int, BitWidth 16 – Unsigned | G_Integer |
| Int, BitWidth 32 – Unsigned | G_BigInt |
| Int, BitWidth 64 – Unsigned | G_Varchar_UTF16 |
| Binary | If NVP blobSupport is:
|
| Utf8 | If NVP clobSupport is:
|
| Date | G_Date |
| Time | G_Time |
| Timestamp | If timezone info is:
|
| Bool | G_Boolean |
| Decimal | G_Decimal The precision of the decimal column must be at least 19 digits. |
| FloatingPoint, Precision DOUBLE | G_Double |
| FloatingPoint, Precision SINGLE | G_Float |
| Struct | G_Row |
| List | G_Array Use subtype of Arrow List type for G_Array subtype. |
| FixedSizeList | G_Array |
| Interval, YEAR_MONTH | G_IntervalYearToMonth |
| Interval, DAY_TIME | G_IntervalDayToSecond G_IntervalDayToSecond supports microseconds. Interval, DAY_TIME supports only milliseconds. Data conversion from Teradata to target Arrow data source requires truncation on the Arrow side. |
| Map | G_Map |
Arrow Varchar and Binary Types Considerations
Arrow Flight SQL connector BLOB columns are restricted to a maximum 2GB and CLOB columns are restricted to a maximum 1GB in size. Due to the in-memory nature of these types, a large amount of resources are required on the Arrow Flight SQL side when their sizes near 1GB. Teradata recommends increasing the Arrow Flight SQL connector driver heap size when working with CLOB or BLOB types.
