  1. Under Fabric Components, select Systems.
  2. Select "" next to Systems.
  3. Select Add System.
  4. Enter a name, up to 256 characters.
Do not select Bridge only system.
  5. [Optional] Enter a description, maximum 1,000 characters.
  6. From the Data center list, do one of the following:
    • Select the data center corresponding to the preferred Teradata Fabric Manager instance used for communication.
    • If the data center where this system is located is not in the list, enter "" to add the data center.
    • Select the system type. Options are TERADATA, HADOOP, and OTHER.
    • Select platform type. Options are AWS, AZURE, GC, and PRIVATE.
  7. From the Node software list, do one of the following:
    • Select the version of the node software that runs on this system.
    • If the version of the node software that runs on this system is not in the list, enter "" to upload the software version file.
  8. [Optional] Select the network to use for internal system communication in Teradata Fabric.
Default is the byn0 network interface when present. You can modify to any working network route.
  9. Under Resource Allocation, to set the maximum amount of memory needed to support applicable concurrent queries, do one of the following:
    Option Description
    Max memory per node
    1. In the box, add the maximum amount of memory needed.
Depending on the available memory on the nodes, tuning settings (such as, FSG Cache) will make sure memory is available for Teradata Fabric.
Estimate The maximum amount of memory Teradata Fabric can consume. If the maximum memory is reached, Teradata Fabric starts rejecting queries.

Use the Estimate tool to help estimate the amount of memory needed:

    1. Select Estimate.
    2. In Max query concurrency, enter the maximum number of Teradata Fabric queries expected to run concurrently for all connectors on the system.
    3. In Max link buffer size, do the following:
      • Enter the size of the buffers for the communication channels.
      • Select the unit of measurement.

Valid values range from 1 to 999. The default is 1 MB.

    4. In Max link buffer count, enter the maximum number of buffers that any link or connector is configured to use per communication channel.

Valid values range from 1 to 999. The default value is 4.

    5. In Max workers per node, enter the number of threads that participate in a query on a given node.

For example, enter the number of AMPs per node on the Teradata system.

    6. Select Set Value.

The value that appears in the Max memory per node box is calculated from the values you entered in the tool.

  10. [Optional] Under Proxy Support choose the following connectivity options:
    Connection Description
Enable Proxy Service to Teradata Fabric Managers for nodes that do not have direct access Enables a Teradata Fabric system to run a proxy service as well as use another proxy service.
Use Proxy Service to Teradata Fabric Managers for nodes that do not have direct access Select one of the following
    • Connectivity through local nodes

Allows nodes without network access to Teradata Fabric Manager to still connect to Teradata Fabric Manager through other nodes in the same system that does have direct access to Teradata Fabric Manager.

The default network to use for proxy connections is BYNET. If the nodes do not have BYNET, then a different network can be specified.

Nodes that do not have a matching network interface are not used as a proxy.

    • Connectivity through bridge system

Allows nodes without network access to Teradata Fabric Manager to still access Teradata Fabric Manager through the nodes of a bridge system that do have direct access to Teradata Fabric Manager.

Select the bridge system to enable connectivity. Enable Proxy Service to Teradata Fabric Managers for nodes that do not have direct access by enabling the Connectivity through local nodes proxy option.

  11. [Optional] Select Remove nodes after offline for to have offline nodes removed from the Teradata Fabric configuration automatically after a specified amount of time (default 48 hours).
Only enable this feature on clusters that frequently scale without Teradata Fabric automatically detecting nodes that are removed, such as with a Hadoop platform.
  12. Select Save.
