Data source nodes can be managed by up to three Teradata Fabric Manager clusters by enabling multiple Teradata Fabric Manager cluster support. The tdqg-node service connects to multiple Teradata Fabric Manager clusters to discover the Teradata Fabric services to deploy on the nodes. By enabling Multiple Teradata Fabric Manager cluster support, an ecosystem can communicate across cluster and data sources without the complications of creating silos between clusters.

When enabling multiple Teradata Fabric Manager cluster support, one primary cluster is defined and the other clusters are considered secondary. The primary cluster is used to determine global settings such as the tdqg-node service version, which must be version 02.11 or later. The data source tdqg-node service version cannot be higher than the version of any Teradata Fabric Manager in the clusters. There are two ways data sources can be added to multiple Teradata Fabric Manager clusters:
  • Auto Install

Allows adding the current Teradata Fabric Manager cluster as the new primary or secondary cluster without removing it from existing clusters.

  • Import System

Allows adding a new Teradata Fabric Manager cluster as either the primary or secondary cluster by importing the system and nodes from another Teradata Fabric Manager cluster. Available as a command line tool or the Viewpoint Teradata Fabric portlet.
