Important: The Arrow Flight SQL connector supports two execution types:
  • CLIENT. Teradata Fabric connects outbound to a remote Arrow Flight SQL server.
  • SERVER. Teradata Fabric exposes the Teradata database as an Arrow Flight SQL server for remote clients.
See Execution Type in Arrow Flight SQL Connector and Link Properties for details.
The following are the minimum requirements for an Arrow Flight SQL target connector node to install the Teradata Fabric 3.x software:
  • 16GB RAM
  • 50GB disk space
  • Memory requirements as defined in the fabric/connector setup
  • CPU and JVM configuration for large dataset processing
  • Latest version of JAVA 11
  • For supported operating system versions, see the Teradata Fabric / QueryGrid Compatibility Matrix
Create a change request on https://support.teradata.com for assistance in deploying the Arrow Flight driver node on Teradata Cloud.

When using the Arrow Flight SQL Connector, the system running the Teradata Fabric driver process handles a greater workload as compared to other connectors. The CPU and memory configuration of the driver node has a significant impact on query performance. The following sample test results are from using different CPU and memory configurations. Multiple driver nodes can be used for load balancing.
