Teradata recommends the following bridge node sizing:
- One CPU per every 2.5Gbps of throughput
Given that the standard networking today is 10Gbps, Teradata recommends a minimum of 4 CPUs and 16GB of memory for a VM bridge.
- 50GB disk space
- Optimized network instance type when available
- For the number of bridge nodes, the general recommendation is a single bridge node to service 10 nodes. The calculation is:
max (initiator nodes, target nodes) / 10 (and round up) = # of bridge nodes
For example, init = 18 and target = 33 then max (18 , 33) = 33, 33 / 10 = 3.3 so a minimum of 4 bridge nodes is recommended. Bridge nodes can be horizontally scaled (scale out).
