The MDS Action Processor (mdsap) or DDL Gateway (mdsgwy) package installs a default odbc.ini file in the following directory:
  • MDS_installation_directory/msg_txt
where MDS_installation_directory is /opt/teradata/mds or a nonstandard location if that option was selected when you installed the MDS Core files.

If the ODBCINI environment variable is set, the package installation does not change the environment variable. The MDS Action Processor and the DDL Gateway use the odbc.ini file specified in the environment variable.

If the ODBCINI environment variable is not set, the default odbc.ini file is used.

  1. Edit the odbc.ini file.
    1. In the [ODBC Data Sources] section, add a line with the DSN information for the MDS repository system and all other systems that will be tracked by MDS.

      The line has the form:

      DSN_name=tdata.so

      [ODBC Data Sources]
      DSN_name=tdata.so
      default=tdata.so
      SYSTEMIDSN=tdata.so
    2. For each DSN line that you add to the [ODBC Data Sources] section, add a new section with the following information:
      [DSN_name]
      Driver=/usr/odbc/drivers/tdata.so
      Description=
      DBCName=system_name
      LastUser=
      Username=
      Password=
      Database=
      DefaultDatabase=
