The FRU Replace Procedure window guides you through the procedure for replacing components. Each procedure contains an ordered list of steps and actions that are performed manually or automatically by running a command step. Steps are then run, or skipped, contingent upon user confirmation. Each procedure is assigned a Session ID that prevents simultaneous, conflicting FRU replace procedures for chassis and chassis components managed by a specific component. If you attempt simultaneous FRU replace procedures, a warning message displays that informs you of a conflicting active FRU replace session.

Canceling active FRU replace procedures is not recommended; however, if the application is closed before an active session is complete, the system assumes that the session is still active. When you restart SMClient and attempt to initiate another session that is in conflict with the previous session, you must cancel the previous session.

  1. From the FRU Replace Procedure window, for the step highlighted in the left panel, do one of the following:
    • In the right pane, follow the process outlined in the Step Description, and then in the left pane, click Ok.
    • If applicable, in the left pane, click Skip.
  2. Repeat each step until the procedure is complete.
