The operational state of a component is represented by text or icons in the Summary Alert Viewer. The operational state of a component does not reflect the operational state of the entire system.
Summary alert icons change as the alert status changes. Following are examples:

Take action. The component or subsystem is reporting a condition of reduced performance. |
| Critical |
|
You must take immediate action. The component or subsystem cannot continue to operate in this state. Critical conditions handled internally by components or subsystems are shut down.
|
| Fatal |
|
You must take immediate action to return the system to its normal operating state. The component or subsystem has failed. |
