Components are serviced or replaced by Teradata Service personnel.

If a Teradata Service agreement is in place, notification or prediction of a failed component is made directly to Teradata Services through TVI software, and Teradata Services responds per the agreement. If you do not use TVI, you must create an incident through Teradata Support at https://access.teradata.com .

The following SMClient commands are used to replace components:
  • Functions > Replace FRU

Some Field-Replaceable Units (FRUs) can be replaced with this command, which uses an interactive script to step through the replacement process. Only one FRU Replace command can be active at one time.

  • Functions > Power Off and Functions > Power On

Some FRUs are not replaceable with Functions > Replace FRU. Instead, you power off the chassis with Functions > Power Off, replace the component, and finally power on the chassis with Functions > Power On.

Some FRUs do not need to be powered off in order to replace them. For more information, see the appropriate Hardware Service Guide for your platform.
