A role defines a set of database privileges on database objects. A user who is assigned a role automatically gains all the privileges of that role. For more information on roles and privileges, see Teradata Vantage™ SQL Fundamentals, B035-1141, Teradata Vantage™ SQL Data Control Language, B035-1149, and Teradata Vantage™ SQL Data Definition Language Syntax and Examples, B035-1144.
  1. In the Navigator, double-click Roles.
  2. In the Object List Viewer toolbar, click "" .
  3. In the property form, enter property values for the new role.
  4. [Optional] Click the SQL tab to see the SQL code that will be executed on the connected system to create the new role.
  5. Click Commit then OK.
