There are three JCL members in dbcpfx.PROCLIB that are related to SMP/E APPLY processing. To perform SMP/E APPLY, execute only the member(s) that are required for your installation. See the following table for a list of the members.

Run the APPLY and APPMNT jobs as separate SMP steps. Do not combine them into one SMP step.
JCL Member Description
APPLY Installs the base function plus any dependent functions at the major or minor release level
APPCHK Simulates an APPLY of PTFs and APARs so you can do troubleshooting before running APPMNT or EAPPLY
APPMNT Applies a maintenance (PTF) release to an existing system
EAPPLY Applies an emergency (APAR) release to an existing system
