Teradata Tools and Utilities

All Teradata Tools and Utilities software is installed into z/OS partitioned data sets (PDSs). The names of the data sets presented in this document are identified by both of the following:

Program Description
DBC prefix

dbcpfx represents the DBC prefix.

The prefix must be one or more qualifiers and is defined according to the requirements of your site for the naming of Teradata software.

Use the naming conventions of your site to determine the DBC prefix. In addition, the prefix can include the qualifiers DBCTEST and DBC to differentiate between test and production systems.

Descriptive qualifier

The descriptive qualifier has meaning to Teradata software and should not be modified. It corresponds to the ddname in the SMP installation process.

Examples of a descriptive qualifier are PROCLIB and SAMPLIB.

You can easily modify the DBC prefix. However, you must not modify the descriptive qualifier. For example, consider the following data set name:

VENDOR.TERADATA.DBCTEST.PROCLIB

This data set name has the modifiable DBC prefix of VENDOR.TERADATA.DBCTEST, and the descriptive qualifier of PROCLIB.
