Installing in a different location is now fully supported. If the destination folder is changed from the default then all products will be installed in that location. If the system is 64-bit, then a folder named prefix is created for the 64-bit applications and one named prefix (x86) is created for the 32-bit applications. This follows the Windows convention of Program Files and Program Files (x86).

All products should be installed using the Suite. Interactive and silent installs are supported and described in this section. Installing products outside of a Suite is not supported. This will result in failures in the TTU products.

When you install Teradata Tools and Utilities, the previous version is automatically uninstalled. If a previous version of Teradata Tools and Utilities is installed, it must be uninstalled before the new version is installed.
  • If it is 14.10 or later – The previous version is automatically uninstalled when you install the current version.
  • If it is pre-14.10 – You must manually uninstall all previous versions of the product before installing the current version.
This helps prevent problems that might be caused by having different versions of the product installed.
Client applications can cause a Windows path overrun if the PATH system environment variable or a user environment variable exceeds 1024 characters, causing programs not to run. If the problem is encountered, upgrade the system to the latest service pack for Windows XP or install the Microsoft hotfix to increase the PATH size to 2048 characters.

At the end of the install, the Teradata Tools and Utilities 64-bit bin and the Teradata Tools and Utilities 32-bit bin paths will be the only paths added to the PATH environment variable.

Our products no longer depend on the PATH environment variable to find and locate the Teradata Tools and Utilities dependent libraries. However, third party applications will be able to find our shared libraries and executables via the PATH variable.

For ODBC on all platforms, because the installation process installs both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Driver for Teradata, both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Teradata GSS Client must be installed before you install Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Driver for Teradata.

Teradata Tools and Utilities package files are digitally signed.
