You must be a site administrator to work with standard backups.
Using the DSA based Standard Backups you can create the following data protection job types:
  • Backup: Backup is a full or partial copy of your data, best suited for long-term storage or migration.
    • In this job type you can only select the source site.
    • When run, the backup restore point is created on the same source site where the data protection plan is created.
    • The retention count you specify in the retention policy is applicable only to the source site.
    • The backups you create in this data protection job can be incremental, partial, or full.
  • Backup (DR):
Backup (DR) is a full or partial copy of your data stored on a DR account/site for disaster recovery.
    • In this type of backup, you can select both the source and target sites.
    • When run, the backup restore point is created on both source and target sites.
    • The retention count you specify in the retention policy is applicable only for the target site. The source site only has one latest copy of the backup restore point.
    • The backups you create in this data protection job can be partial, or full. Incremental backup is not supported.
Standard backups are ideal for partial backups and restores. Standard backups support the following use cases:
  • Object-level backups at the individual table or database level
  • More frequent backups of tables or databases that change often
  • Object-level restores from full or partial backups
To enable the partial backup feature in the Vantage Console, submit a change request to have your site provisioned with the following:
    • Query Service configured for self service restoration.
    • Single Sign-on
    • Users, with access rights for database objects, in the Analytics Database. To create the user, enter the name in the Teradata Username field of the database.
