The Role Mapping page in Enterprise Console (Access Control > Role mapping) shows every role in your environment across three types:
- Standard: The five platform roles that Teradata defines (Organization Admin, Site Admin, Security Admin, Data Curator, Data User). These are the roles you map your IdP groups to. They appear with a lock icon indicating Teradata manages their definition.
- Custom: Organization-defined roles that extend the standard set for specific business needs (for example,. Nike_Data_Owner). You cannot map custom roles to IdP groups like standard roles; instead, you must combine privileges across services and define the role privileges from scratch rather than using the privileges that Teradata pre-defines and manages.
- Database: Database-level roles (e.g. Nike_Database_Admins). These exist in the role mapping view for visibility but are managed separately at the database level. You cannot assign Compute Engines to database roles through this interface.
