- Message
- A message was received that failed to follow the required security policy. %s
- Explanation
- The gateway received a message from the client with insufficient security level to satisfy the security policy established for the user based on their identity, the machine they are logged on from, or some other criteria. This error can also occur during logon, if a policy would apply, but the client does not support the enforcement of security policy, or if the user used an authentication mechanism that their security policy does not allow. It will also occur if anything would prevent the lookup or enforcement of security policy. An error 8056 would normally be returned to the client, but if this error occurs during logon, an error 8017 will be returned to the client instead.

- Remedy
- If the gateway received a message from the client with insufficient security level to satisfy the security policy, contact the Global Support Center. If the Client does not support the enforcement of security policy, it must be upgraded to a version that supports the enforcement of security policy, or, if the policy was applied in error, it should be removed from the security policy directory. If a complaint of lack of support occurs with a client version that is supposed to be able to enforce security policy, contact the Global Support Center. If the user used an authentication mechanism that their security policy does not allow, verify that the user knows what mechanisms they are permitted to use, and how to set up their client to use them. If they should have been able to use the mechanism, update the security policy directory so that they are given permission to use it. If anything prevented the lookup or enforcement of security policy, verify your TDGSS setup, and if that fails, contact the Global Support Center.
