VantageCloud Lake supports the following applications. A list of unsupported functions is also provided.

QueryGrid

QueryGrid on VantageCloud Lake supports the following connectivity types:

VantageCloud Enterprise on AWS* Teradata-to-Teradata
*A PrivateLink endpoint is required to setup and configure VantageCloud Enterprise on AWS. Open a change request on https://support.teradata.com with the following information in the request details:
  • Purpose: Request for creating a VantageCloud Enterprise private link endpoint for QueryGrid.
  • VantageCloud Enterprise SiteID.
  • Service name of the endpoint service created on the VantageCloud Lake site.
  • Availability zone ID where the endpoint service was created on the VantageCloud Lake site.
VantageCore (on-premises) Teradata-to-Teradata
Amazon EMR
  • Teradata-to-Apache Hive
  • Teradata-to-Apache Spark
Other JDBC-compatible query engines (such as Amazon Redshift) Generic JDBC

  • These connections are configurable through self-service and do not require a Teradata consulting engagement.
  • VantageCloud Lake on AWS supports bi-directional query initiation with VantageCloud Enterprise on AWS and VantageCore (on-premises) using the Teradata-to-Teradata connector.
  • VantageCloud Lake on Azure supports bi-directional query initiation with VantageCloud Enterprise on Azure and VantageCore (on-premises) using the Teradata-to-Teradata connector.

Backup and Restore (BAR)

  • Only full system backup and restore are supported. For primary clusters data, Teradata uses backup and restore runbooks. For objects in an Object File System, Teradata relies on native Amazon S3 resiliency for data protection.
  • Teradata Managed Services manually performs backup and restore operations using runbooks.

Advanced Analytics

The following capabilities are supported:

VantageCloud Lake also supports Vantage modules for Jupyter that include Teradata SQL Extension for Jupyter - SQL kernel, Navigator, and Connection Manager to explore, manage connections, and run queries on Teradata Vantage. For more information, see https://teradata.github.io/jupyterextensions/

Unsupported Capabilities

The following capabilities are not supported:
  • Script Table Operator Python, R
  • ExecR Operator
  • AWS SageMaker API
VantageCloud Lake does not support the following:
  • Mainframes
  • Query Service
