Each Environment has a Primary Cluster. The primary cluster is an Analytics Database that is the hub of your Environment.
Optionally, you can add Compute Clusters. Compute clusters are independent, scalable compute resources used to offload compute-intensive query steps from the primary cluster. Compute clusters are outside of the primary cluster, but connected to it by Vantage Query Fabric.
The Query Fabric provides parallel, scalable connectivity between the primary cluster and multiple compute clusters. It provides load balancing between multiple compute clusters and transfers finalized query steps for execution. It also transfers data in parallel between the clusters.
The primary cluster and compute clusters are components of the Analytics Database. The primary cluster provides client connectivity and query planning, and compute clusters provide compute resources.
The primary cluster and compute clusters can access data in Object Storage, which consists of data in the Object File System and data in External Object Storage Accessed Using Native Object Store (NOS). The primary cluster can also access data in Block Storage.
