In addition to single-node cliques, on AWS the primary cluster supports multi-node cliques.

You can deploy multi-node cliques on AWS by selecting Provisioned IOPS SSD (io2 Block Express) from the Advanced options > Storage type while creating the environment, see Getting Started: First Sign On by Organization Admin .

Other limitations and considerations for VantageCloud Lake primary cluster deployment:
  • Both Standard and High IO instance family support both GP3 and IO2 block storage.
  • Gp3 is only supported for Node Count < 10 for all instance types and sizes.
  • io2 is supported for Node Count 2-128 for all instance types and sizes.
  • io2 IOPS is required only when Storage Type = io2; however, the io2 IOPS provisioned with io2 varies based on instance size of VantageCloud Lake primary cluster.
  • io2 storage has additional cost of io2 IOPS on AWS.

When configuring your environment using the VantageCloud Lake Console, these are the defaults:

  • Deployments with 10 or more instances default with provisioned IOPS SSD (io2 Block Express) on the primary cluster.
  • Deployments with fewer than 10 instances default to general purpose SSD (gp3) on the primary cluster.

Block storage expansion, scaling up and down on the primary cluster is supported.

Benefits:

  • System availability regardless of infrastructure failure.
  • Faster recovery. From 15-20 minutes to equal or fewer than 3 minutes approximately.
  • Mitigate impact to system level availability due to storage volume failure by offering higher durable storage to the customer.
