Grants the privilege to connect as a proxy permanent user or proxy application user through the specified trusted user, storing the information in DBC.ConnectRulesTbl.

The statement grants the specified trusted user the privilege to do the following:
  • Connect as the specified permanent or application user.
  • Get roles for the specified permanent or application user.

The specified trusted user is granted the privilege to assert the identity of the proxy user names specified in its defining SET QUERY_BAND request. See SET QUERY_BAND.

ANSI Compliance

This statement is a Teradata extension to the ANSI SQL:2011 standard.

Required Privileges

  • CTCONTROL

  • WITH ADMIN OPTION on each role specified in the WITH ROLE clause of the GRANT CONNECT THROUGH request
  • DROP USER on each user specified as a PERMANENT proxy user
