AUTODBA Option

  • The AUTODBA option marks a profile as having its owning or created objects eligible for automated tuning from system services.
  • The WITH CHECK OPTION sub-option for AUTODBA requires user approval of recommended actions prior to applying them.
  • The NO AUTODBA option marks the profile as ineligible for automated tuning.
  • An error is reported if both NO and WITH CHECK are specified with AUTODBA.
  • Once a given user or database is created and marked, any children objects (e.g., tables) created under them will automatically inherit their AutoDB option unless specifically marked otherwise during their creation. Similarly, objects created by user whose profile is specified with an AutoDB option will inherit that option.
  • Modifying the AUTODBA option for a profile will not automatically cascade this change to existing tables that were created by users with that profile. Use the ALTER TABLE statement to change the AUTODBA setting for already existing tables.
  • When AUTODBA or AUTODBA WITH CHECK is specified, Dictionary columns DBC.Dbase.AutoDBA or DBC.Profiles.AutoDBA are set to non-null values.
