Cabinet builds for 9400 cabinet configurations use build rules to define a valid system configuration. Cabinets can contain single or multiple cliques or systems.

Build Rules

Install components in sequential order per the following rules, with maximum numbers of each limited by the power type used in the cabinet.

The maximum number of switches (not including server management switches) is four, except in the BYNET cabinet configuration, which can have up to eight second-tier BYNET switches in addition to two first-tier BYNET switches.

For Server Management in each 9400 cabinet build, install a pair of the same 1 Gb Ethernet switches. The switches can be one of the following:
  • Dell X1026
  • Dell X1052
  • Dell N1548
  • Ruckus ICX 7150-48
  • Dell N1148T-ON

One switch is installed at the bottom, and the other switch is installed in the attic.
