TeraGSS is used to establish secure connections between a client and a server using the Teradata Generic Security Service (TDGSS) interface. Previously, TeraGSS required an explicit installation directory for configuration files, executable files, and libraries to ensure secure connections between the client and the server. As of Teradata Database 15.10.01, TeraGSS can be installed in a directory specified by the user and secure connections between client and server are still established.

  • The installation scripts allow users to specify the root folder or drive for the installation. If a directory structure is not specified, the installation provides a default installation directory.
  • Supported operating systems are: Windows, Mac OS X, AIX, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris.
  • Reinstalling a previous version is allowed, and site customizations can be retained. However, USD and pre-USD versions cannot coexist, so the USD version must be uninstalled before downgrading.

  • This release of TeraGSS is not compatible with previous releases of Teradata Tools and Utilities (TTU).

  • TeraGSS is only compatible with other versions of TeraGSS with the same major and minor release number, regardless of the version of Teradata Database; for example, TeraGSS is compatible with TeraGSS, but TeraGSS is not compatible with TeraGSS
  • Concurrent, separate versions of the TdgssUserConfigFile.xml file are no longer allowed.
  • To retain site customizations from earlier installations, the user must manually edit the TdgssUserConfigFile.xml file and execute run_tdgssconfig.
  • If changes are made to TdgssUserConfigFile.xml, run_tdgssconfig must be run manually or TeraGSS will not initialize.
  • The tdgsspkgrm utility is removed.
  • The tdgssversion utility no longer supports version switching. It is now used to display the TeraGSS four part release number. More than one version of TeraGSS may be installed on a client. tdgssversion displays the release number for the environment it is run from. TeraGSS is installed in a directory path that contains the major.minor release number. tdgssversion gives you the entire release number, including the maintenance and efix parts of the release number; for example,
