You must create an Azure Active Directory application and the service principal to enable the node failure recovery and scale out/scale in features.
  1. Create the Azure Active Directory application and the service principal, then assign the Contributor role to it.
    1. Go to the Azure Resource Manager Documentation.
    2. From the left navigation menu, click How to > Control Access > Create service principal.
  2. Complete this procedure using the Azure Powershell, Azure CLI, or Azure portal documentation.
