To provide redundancy for your application, Azure recommends you group two or more VMs in an availability set to make sure at least one VM is available during either a planned or unplanned maintenance event.
If you deploy VMs from an image, you must specify an availability set. If you deploy Teradata products using a solution template, an availability set is automatically created when the VMs are deployed.
