To stop a Vantage VM, you must first stop the database.
  1. Stop the database, which might take several minutes. 
    # tpareset -x stop system
  2. Wait for the database to shut down. 
    # pdestate -w
    PDE state: DOWN/HARDSTOP
  3. From the Azure portal, stop the applicable VMs.
