You must have your site ID to download and install Vantage on VMware. See Required Privileges for VMware Datacenter Level.
  1. Calculate the raw storage requirement.
  2. Prepare the host node by configuring datastores, virtual network switches, and port groups.
  3. Using the link and instructions provided by Teradata in your licensing email, download the Vantage on VMware installation components.
  4. If this is a new installation, set PowerCLI execution privileges.
  5. Decide the location of the .ova files in the vCenter environment or your desktop.

    You must prepare the templates before the initial deployment. See Preparing Virtual Machines from .ova Files or .ova File Location on the Desktop. For the quickest deployment, choose the vCenter environment on each vSphere host.

  6. If this is a new installation, or if your VMware environment has changed, edit the values in the common.IT.properties.json file.
  7. Edit the node.IT.properties.json file with the values for the specific Teradata Virtual Machine installation.
  8. Deploy Vantage on VMware using one of the following methods: Deploying Teradata Vantage on VMware for Sites with Internet Access or Deploying Teradata Vantage on VMware for Sites without Internet Access
  9. Configure the software you installed.
  10. Verify the software you installed.
  11. If you want the VM to communicate with a mainframe computer, establish the connection.
