- To download the software, go to https://downloads.teradata.com and select Teradata on VMware Developer Tier and Developer Tier Preconfigured.
You must be logged in to access the download. If you do not already have a user account, you can create one at
https://downloads.teradata.com/user/register.
When the Developer Tier Preconfigured OVA file is deployed on vCenter, memory should be set to 32 GB.
- Login and select Teradata Database on VMware Developer Tier Preconfigured - Database Template to start the OVA file download.
- Deploy the OVA file through the vSphere Web Portal using the option Deploy OVF.
- Attach a network adapter to use as your public adapter.
- Power on the newly deployed VM.
- Attach two physical disks of the same size between 100 GB and 3 TB.
If you attach the wrong size disks, two different size disks, or more than two disks, remove the disks and reboot the system.
- When the DHCP IP address is acquired, SSH into the node using the following credentials:
Username: root
Password: iumb123
- Enter tdvm-init.
This process will take at least 15-20 minutes to complete.
- When prompted, enter a valid Linux time zone.
For a list of valid time zones, go to /root/tvme/LinuxTimeZoneStrings.txt.
- When prompted, enter a maximum of two NTP servers separated by a comma.
- Do one of the following:
- If the system has been changed by the user, enter the root password.
- To use the default password, press Enter.
A status bar indicates the progress before the deployment is complete.
Deploying the software
