Use this procedure to create a user on Teradata Database.

Connect to Teradata Database before creating a user.

  1. Click Tools > Control Center. The Control Center dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click Create a New User.

    The New User dialog box appears.



  4. Enter the information for the new user.
    Field Description
    User Name Name of the user
    Owner Owner of the user
    Password Password for the user
    Perm Space Define the permanent space:
    1. Enter a value.
    2. Click one of the following: KB, MB, or GB.
    Spool Space Define the spool space:
    1. Enter a value.
    2. Click one of the following: KB, MB, or GB.

    The default is 0.

    Default Database Do one of the following:
    • Enter the user name entered above.
    • Enter an alternate name for the default database.
    Collation Select a collation type
    Default Data Form Select a default data form
    Default Character Set Choose a default character set
    Comment [Optional] Enter a comment up to 255 characters in length.
    Fallback [Optional] Select to use fallback protection.
    QCD Name Enter the name of the QCD in which the user is being given rights.
    User Type Select a user type.
    • Normal User – Load, view, or delete user’s own plans or workloads only.
      The Use X-views for QCD information check box must be selected in the Options dialog box. (See Setting General Options for more information.)
    • Power User – Load and view plans or workloads inserted by any user.

      Delete user’s own plans or workloads only.

    • Administrator – Load, view, or delete any plan created by any user.

      Drop or delete QCD tables.

      By default, the QCD creator has Administrator privileges.
  5. Click Command to execute an SQL statement.

  6. Click Create to create the user.
    Appropriate rights on Teradata Database are required to create a user.
