In some cases, you may wish to explicitly request an expression be enclosed within beginning ‘(‘ and ending ‘)’ parentheses. The Variable Creation analysis attempts when it can to provide the correct nesting of parentheses, so this is offered for specialized cases. Using the explicit Parentheses function results in an expression being parenthesized, as in (expression). When dragging a Parentheses into a variable, the following tree element is created.
Variable Creation > Input > Variables: SQL Elements pane - Other > Parentheses
Columns and/or other expressions can be moved over the (empty) branch of the tree.
There are no special properties of the Parentheses function.
