This function is only available when connected to a Teradata system.

When a query includes a Sample clause, the Sample ID may be selected to distinguish the sample that each returned row belongs to. The Sample ID is an integer from 1 to the number of samples, assigned in the left to right order of the samples defined in the Sample clause.

Sample ID can only be selected in a Variable or Dimension definition and not within an expert clause, with the exception that it may be part of an Order By clause. It may not be the only thing in the select list of a query, and it may not be embedded in an Aggregate or Ordered Analytical function.

When dragging a Sample ID element into a variable, the following tree element is created.

Variable Creation > Input > Variables: SQL Elements pane - Other > Sample Id

There are no special properties of the Sample ID.
