Teradata Database Engine 20 20.x now supports Open Table Format (OTF) Lakehouses. The on-premises Vantage customers can now perform Read and Write operations to Iceberg tables using the Hive catalog.

This release only supports connection to Hive catalog and Hive metastore services.
You must provide the following parameters for OTF.
  • Hive Catalog Location/URI.
  • Storage location of on-premises object store compatible with Amazon S3-APIs. For example, Dell ECS.
  • Credentials for on-premises storage.
Customer Actions
As a customer, you must perform the following actions, as and when required:
  • Ensure that the catalog and data files reside on on-premises storage, compatible with Amazon S3 APIs.
  • Own and manage Iceberg metadata service and data files.
  • Provision and manage the Hive metastore services.
  • Share the catalog and data access URIs with your VantageCore VMware change control team.
  • Authorize the compute instances on VantageCore VMware (20.00.24.x version) running on the on-premises server to read and write to the Hive catalog and Iceberg Tables.
  • Ensure secure connection between VantageCore VMware, Hive metastore services, and Iceberg Lakehouse.

See OTF Getting Started guide for more details on OTF.
