- Consistent resource availability, such as CPU, memory, and I/O
- Consistent throughput per VM
- Availability of all Analytics Database VMs
Teradata requires consistent throughput for all instances of the application running in all VMs of the system. Any reduction in the throughput of a single VM can directly impact the overall system performance.
In a VM deployment, make sure that servers hosting Analytics Database VMs are not shared with other applications.
Analytics Database VMs must be fully provisioned for all resources so that the VMs reach maximum resource usage.
From the time that the database is started the system must continuously have access and performance on all Analytics Database nodes and VMs in the configuration.
For example, if the system is started with eight Analytics Database VMs in each clique, the infrastructure must maintain those eight VMs throughout the operation of the system. Any disruption to those Analytics Database VMs may result in a system restart and recovery. Hot standby nodes automatically enable a system restart on the unavailable VM in each clique.
