Database Engine 20 is built to maintain high performance and high reliability for your workload.
The fundamental and critical feature of Teradata is parallel processing architecture (MPP). With an MPP architecture, all operations are run across all instances of Database Engine 20 in parallel to achieve optimal throughput for any operation.
As a result of this highly-parallel execution model, Teradata performance is reduced if any component in this parallel infrastructure has a reduced performance against the rest of the components in the system.
For example, if you have a 20-node system running the workload and one of the nodes in this system experiences a 10% performance impact on the portion of the job, you may see a 10% reduction in total system performance. There is no load balancing.
Consider the storage, network, and compute requirements described in this section to retain optimal performance.
