Teradata VantageCore VMware requires the following high-level configurations and packaging within a single system to deliver a full-featured Vantage experience with high-availability characteristics:
Database Engine 20 Configuration
Applies to the hardware that is used by Database Engine 20 to run Teradata Vantage. VantageCore VMware virtual machines are run on this collection of hardware to enable the traditional MPP or scalable Teradata architecture. For this implementation, the Database Engine 20 configuration takes the form of fault-tolerant cliques composed of nodes, network switches, and external storage arrays.
Management Cluster Configuration
Applies to the hardware that enables key monitoring, management, and utility functions for the VantageCore VMware software ecosystem and provides a single point of management for the Vantage ecosystem through applications such as Viewpoint. The management cluster hosts core database services for the Database Engine 20 or BYNET message passing layer and therefore requires configuration with the same high-availability characteristics as the Database Engine 20 configuration. See Management Cluster.
Equipment Packaging and Racking
Specifies the components and logical configuration of the Teradata VantageCore Enterprise Data Warehouse powered by Dell Technologies solution. See Equipment Packaging and Racking.
