Teradata system performance and capacity scale linearly when additional compute, I/O, and capacity resources are added to the system.
Teradata system is sized and expanded using Teradata cliques. See Clique and System Architecture for Database Configuration.
You can achieve the system-level design targets by including enough cliques to cover the most demanding and constraining resource element of the target system.
The following table summarizes the key compute, I/O, and capacity attributes of a Teradata clique:
| Clique Configuration | Profile | Cores / Clique (for Database Engine 20) | Memory / Clique (for Database Engine 20) | 50% RR / RW, 256KB I/O per Clique | Compressed CDS per Clique |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4+1, 3 arrays | Balanced | 176 | 2,800 GiB | ~12 GB/s | 85 TB |
| 8+1, 6 arrays | Balanced | 352 | 2,800 GiB | ~12 GB/s | 170 TB |
