These settings are intended to help balance the workload impact on the Teradata server (typically using Teradata Active System Management, TASM).

Use analytical connections if the application needs to submit database intensive or long-running queries. Queries that must execute in short order (typically to provide optimal performance in the user interface when retrieving information about database objects such as databases, tables, and columns) will use tactical connections. The intention is for database administrators to take the credentials or query band properties associated with each connection to determine the priority and resources allocated to running the queries. Tactical connections should be set with a higher priority over analytical connections.
